YOUR SCREEN, YOUR TIME, YOUR CHOICE.

To the Young Ones,

What does your screen show you?

What’s the first thing you usually see when you pick up your phone or open your laptop or your desktop?

Maybe it’s a chat popping up.

Maybe it’s a video that starts playing before you even think.

Maybe it’s class work or office tasks.

Maybe it’s just one quick scroll that somehow becomes longer than you planned.

You’re not the only one. This is how screens are designed to work.

Your screen is smart but not neutral.

It learns you. It notices what you click, what you ignore what you watch, and then it shows you more of that.

That can feel fun, but here’s the tricky part.

It doesn’t just show you everything. It shows you what keeps you watching.

So sometimes, you’re not really exploring, you’re being guided without noticing.

So what can you do about it?

You don’t need to quit your phone or delete everything. This isn’t about being extreme. It’s about being in control more often than not.

So, pause before you scroll. Before you unlock your screen, ask, what did I come here for? Even if the answer is nothing, that’s still useful, it means you’re choosing, not drifting.

Set a small time limit and try to keep to it. You won’t always get it right, but even trying builds control.

Don’t let boredom auto-open your phone. Bored moments are important. That’s when your brain resets, daydreams, and gets creative.

Choose at least one thing your screen helps you build. Not just consume. A skill, a story, a project. Screens aren’t only for scrolling, they can help you create something that’s yours.

A reminder for you.

Your screen is powerful. It can teach you, entertain you, and connect you.

But it can also quietly take your attention if you’re not paying attention.

So the real goal is, don’t use screens less. But make sure you’re the one choosing, not just reacting.

Because the more you notice what your screen is doing to you, the more you get to decide what you do with it.
