TREADS OF PREJUDICE.

FROM KAIMA’S DIARY

👇👇👇

There was a small town named Graceville. People of all colours, backgrounds, and beliefs lived together. Despite their differences, they shared a common bond: their love for their community. However, beneath the surface, some tensions simmered, often unspoken but always felt.

One day, a young girl named Joyce moved to Graceville with her family. Joyce was excited to make new friends and explore her new home. But as she walked through the town, she noticed that some people looked at her differently. She felt the weight of their stares and heard whispers behind her back. Maya was different from most of the town’s residents, and her skin colour made her stand out.

At school, Joyce tried to fit in, but it wasn’t easy. Some kids were kind and welcoming, but others were not. They made fun of her, called her names, and excluded her from their games. She felt hurt and alone, but she didn’t let it show. She knew she had to be strong.

One day, the school announced a talent show. Joyce loved to sing and decided to participate. She practised every day, pouring her heart and soul into her performance. When the day of the talent show arrived, she stood on the stage, her heart pounding. She closed her eyes and began to sing.

Her voice was like a river, flowing with emotion and beauty. The audience was captivated, and for a moment, all their prejudices and biases melted away. They saw her for who she truly was: a talented, brave, and beautiful girl.

After her performance, the audience erupted in applause. Joyce’s classmates, who had once been cruel, approached her with admiration and respect. They realized that they had been wrong to judge her based on her appearance. They saw the strength and resilience in her eyes and felt ashamed of their actions.

From that day on, Graceville began to change. People started to talk openly about their prejudices and worked together to create a more inclusive and accepting community. They learned that diversity was their strength and that everyone had something valuable to contribute.

Joyce’s courage and talent sparked a transformation in Harmonyville. She had shown them that love and understanding could conquer hate and ignorance. And as the town grew closer, they realized that they were all part of one big, beautiful family.

And so, Graceville became a place where everyone was celebrated for who they were, and where the bonds of friendship and love were stronger than the chains of prejudice.

In our everyday lives, sometimes we get judged for being ourselves and not behaving to the likeness of others. We live through the eyes of others and act to please them. The truth is, it is never up to people to decide the box they place us in because we are all born with flaws and imperfections that in every shape and form define us as humans. We don’t choose how we came to be, but we choose what we do with our lives. It takes a lot of courage to be ourselves and make the most out of our lives. I pray we have that courage and know when to use them, Amen.
