SCENE OF ENCOUNTER.

There was this experience that taught me a lot in my journey as a consultant. A client came for visa renewal but didn’t have much balance in her account to make her application. Going through her bank statement, I noticed a huge debit transaction in her account, and the narrative says ticket. It was a business class ticket she purchased for a holiday trip to Dubai.

Curious, I asked her why she had to spend that much in a ticket, at a time she was trying to make up the required balance in her account. Why business class when economy class matches your status? Her response shocked me. She said, ” I don’t miss buying a business class ticket whenever I travel because that’s where I meet my important clients”.

Does that make sense to you? To me, it does because in life, we have our moments of encounter, the moment that makes a huge difference in our lives and significantly shapes our journey.

Though I cannot relate to her experience, I’ve come to understand that every business has its defining moment, which I call a Scene of Encounter. So do every career path, every destiny, and every life pursuit generally.

In my entrepreneurial journey, I have had many of these moments, but one marked a turning point and a breakthrough for me.

Can you think of yours?
Can you remember the moment that made a huge difference in your life?
The person you met.
The place you visited.
The book you read.
The movie you watched.

The message you heard.

The advice that shifted your direction.
The encounter that changed your story.
The moment that stirred something in you.

Never underestimate the power of a meaningful encounter. Learn to recognise and respect your scenes of encounter, those moments, conversations, choices and environments that shifted your perspectives and opened great paths for you. They may not always look practical to others, but they often hold the key to your next breakthrough.

Every career, every business, every purpose-driven life has defining encounters. Don’t ignore them. Don’t downplay them. Lean into them.

Sometimes, your biggest transformation is just one bold decision away. Be ready for it!
