Ehphatha, an Aramaic word was one powerful word that worked miracles with Jesus. It means, “be opened”.
In today’s reality, we can liken it to opening our senses and sharpening our thoughts.
To be open to everything
With everything
For everything.
To try not to be
Blind
Deaf
Or dumb to the events around us.
To be open-minded
To be aware of the people, the objects and the environment that impact us.
To be open to the world, in ourselves and our children.
As a parent, we can do so by seizing teaching moments, opening windows of opportunity, engaging our children, relishing our moments, expanding our awareness and involvement and staying open to the world around us.
May we experience Ehphatha moments that will open the ears of our minds to embrace the possibilities and opportunities ahead, Amen.
