Chizzy has been writing poems and stories nonstop since this mid-term holiday. I remembered that I hadn’t seen any of Kaima’s work and I asked her yesterday why she hadn’t written anything. She told me she’s always engaged with either school work or home activities. I realized that most of the time Chizzy is writing, she is doing one house chore or the other and because she enjoys it and doesn’t complain, I didn’t realize that she needed a time adjustment.
Though they all have stipulated chores in the house, Kaima is always my first port of call when any impromptu chores come up or when I need something done urgently.
Except for families that have maids that do all house chores, every parent makes this mistake. Spontaneous calls and chores are usually for the firstborn children because they’re trusted more to do it better than others. Every family has that one child that is more domesticated than others, sometimes not the firstborn but they are usually the ones. By giving them more chores to do, parents tend to forget that their younger ones are also capable of doing the same. Sometimes, It may take the firstborn to leave the house for a period of time, for parents to adjust and give such chores to their younger siblings.
Firstborn children are so special, they’re the second parents of other children and the backbone of their parents. They are usually calm, focused, and intelligent. You need no prophet to tell when you see them.
To every firstborn child, may your blessings supersede your love and sacrifices to your families, Amenπ
