During winter, my children usually packed a small water bottle in their school bag. It was more than enough. Some days, they would come home with water still left in it.
But during summer, the same bottle would no longer be enough because of intense heat. They would come home thirsty every day because the bottle that once served them well could no longer meet their needs.
So they used a bigger bottle.
The weather hadn’t changed because of the bottle.
The amount of water available hadn’t changed either.
What changed was my children’s capacity to carry what they needed for the new season.
A bigger bottle, a bigger vessel.
Life is like that.
The mindset, habits, and beliefs that sustained you in one season may not be enough for the next.
If you’re praying for greater opportunities, more income, healthier relationships, or a bigger assignment, you may also need a bigger vessel.
To expand your thinking.
To strengthen your resilience.
To learn to receive help without guilt.
To develop new skills.
Build healthy relationships.
Believe that abundance is not something to fear but something you can achieve.
To every parent.
As your children grow, don’t keep giving them small bottles.
Expand their capacity by exposing them to books, meaningful conversations, new experiences, responsibilities, and opportunities to think for themselves.
Raise children who are prepared not only to dream big but also to carry big responsibilities with wisdom and character.
To every child and young person reading this.
Don’t be in a hurry to ask for bigger opportunities if you’re not preparing yourself to handle them.
Every book you read, every skill you learn, every good habit you build, and every challenge you overcome is expanding your vessel.
Prepare yourself today so that when bigger opportunities come tomorrow, you’ll be ready to carry them.
Sometimes, the next level isn’t waiting on a bigger blessing.
It’s waiting on a bigger vessel.
