WHEN REALITY IS IGNORED

There are moments when reality quietly calls for our attention, but we fail to hear it, not because it is silent but because we are distracted.

These days, reality tend to be ignored. Life is filled with constant noise: social media, entertainment, endless notifications, and the pressure to stay connected to everything except what is right in front of us.

In the midst of this, real life continues, time passes, relationships change, responsibilities grow, and important decisions wait to be made.

But reality is often ignored.

This does not always happen in obvious ways. It is usually subtle. A young person may neglect studies while chasing online trends. Another may overlook a friend’s feelings because of constant phone use. Someone else may ignore their own well-being, mental health, or spiritual life while escaping into distraction.

The danger is that life does not pause for us. While attention is elsewhere, opportunities are missed, relationships weaken, and important warnings go unheard.

Like walking through a busy road while focused on a screen, ignoring reality can lead to unintended consequences.

Yet reality is not something to fear, it is something to embrace. It is where growth happens, where relationships are built, where character is formed, and where purpose is discovered.

Facing reality means being honest with ourselves, attentive to others, and engaged with the life we are actually living, not the one we are escaping into.

There is a growing tendency among young people today to live carelessly, without reflection, awareness, or real attention to themselves, others, and their environment.

Many are not doing anything wrong, but are simply becoming mentally asleep to reality.

This leads to important issues being ignored, relationships weakened, self-awareness reduced, and opportunities missed for growth.

It is a call to step back from constant distraction, to think more deeply, and to live more intentionally.

Because when reality is ignored, life becomes shallow. But when reality is embraced, life becomes meaningful, grounded, and full of direction.
