BUILDING A FUTURE-READY PLATFORM.

At the time RoyalQuest Schools was built, during its foundational stage, I was at the site with the engineer one day, and I noticed something. Some of the older buildings in the area were starting to sink. I asked why, and I was told it’s because the land is waterlogged, which causes structures to gradually subside over time. Even though most of those buildings had raft foundations, I learned that the effectiveness of such a foundation depends heavily on the depth, thickness and how well water is managed around them.

Raft/Mat foundations are usually expensive due to the substantial amount of reinforcement and concrete needed to cover the entire building footprint and protect it against water. They also require more time, effort and manpower to complete. But in the end, it’s worth it because they provide a strong, elevated, and secure base for the building.

I was told that some buildings that sink were probably because the raft foundation does not have the depth or the thickness required for a waterlogged area, which significantly affects the stability and safety of the entire building.

This illustration is exactly what happens to a child’s early development, especially in an environment that compromises the child’s safety, well-being and development.

A solid foundation at the first level of a child’s life is crucial because it sets the tone for everything that follows. Like a building that relies on its base for stability, children need a strong beginning, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually, to build a meaningful and successful life.

Life is layered, and each new phase builds upon the previous one. A weak start can limit options or lead to repeated setbacks. But with a well-laid foundation, children are more likely to overcome obstacles, take initiative, and lead fulfilling lives.

A child who gets the right foundational support early in life will most likely do better in school, make good friends, and become a confident and kind adult.

But if the early years are full of confusion, fear, or lack of care, it becomes harder for children to trust others, to believe in themselves or to navigate through life. Many children carry the effects of this weak foundation into adulthood due to their parents’ shortcomings in providing it

Therefore, parents, teachers and caregivers have the responsibility to help children build a strong foundation in life by giving them love, guidance, discipline, direction, and the right chances to learn and grow. The result will be a confident, stable, and capable child maturing into an adult who stands tall, firm and rooted for success.

In summary, the first level of life matters deeply. It is not merely a stage to pass through but a platform that supports all future growth. Whether it’s in personal development, education, relationships, or career paths, the strength of this beginning often determines the stability and success of what comes next. Investing in that foundation, whether as parents, educators, or individuals, is one of the wisest decisions to make because just as a building depends on its foundation, a child’s future depends on the strength of their early development.
