Epilogue

The account officer stared back at the sobbing woman before him. He felt no pity for her. Why was she being emotional over this, he wondered. She should be grateful she was not incarcerated like her monstrous kidnapper husband! Yet here she was wailing over his frozen accounts. Crying over monies that weren’t hers to begin with.
To think that he had envied the man all these years of serving as his account officer. Who would have thought the flamboyant life style of Mr. Patrick Kwase which many like himself had mistakenly believed to be full of potential actually holds no value. The incorrigible man had been living on a ‘Fool’s Gold’!
“I am sorry madam, but there’s nothing we can do. Your husband’s money is now government money until stated otherwise.” The account officer said in the best dismissing voice he could muster.
Queeneth cried on as it all finally sinked. All they had, everything, down to her cars and belongings have been stripped from them. She had been unable to flee when the news of Ansley’s crimes broke. The Police had been waiting for her at her door step with a court injunction to leave the house without as much as a pin. They had threw her and her children into the street without sympathy.
With her eyes red from tears and her heart heavy, she left the bank a penniless woman . Where would she begin from? Where would she go? How would she care for her children? She cursed him! She cursed him and she cursed the day she met him.
His leg wound fester and stinked but the police didn’t care. He would be arraigned in court tomorrow, this was all that mattered.
Job had died two days ago from the gun shot wound he had sustained. He would be next to die if they continue to let his own wound get infected. He prayed they would. Death would be a preferred option. His prayers wasn’t answered as a doctor was ushered to his cell that night. His wound was treated and medication was administered.
The court room was full and burstling with spectators when he, his two remaining boys, Sergeant Sergio and three other police officers were filed into the dock to face the wrath of the law.
It was the foul smell that alerted neighbors to the quiet two bedroom flat. The oozing from the flat had become unbearable as the days went by.
The occupants of the flat, a very beautiful woman and her husband had not been seen for a long time now. They had only started living in the compound about eight months ago and were yet to mingle thus they had hardly being missed. The other tenants had deduced they might have traveled or something. But what was that smell from their flat?
The landlord was alerted on the fourth day when the smell had become a nightmare to the three other tenants in the compound. It was time to break open the door and find out what was going on!
The sight that greeted them when they finally gained access into the house was gory! The almost decomposed body of a man and a woman. They were the occupants of the flat.
The man was lying on the floor faced down, his rotten flesh crawling with maggots. The woman was on a chair, her case no better off. There was a half empty bowl of popcorn and two empty glass of wine on the table. Probably their last meal.
What had killed the beautiful woman and her husband, the tenants wondered? How long have they been dead? Why had no one come to look for them?
The police was alerted next and the two decomposed body was bundled out of the compound in an ambulance to be buried in the state cemetery.
The End.
