3RD TERM CHECKLIST: DO THE NEEDFUL AS A SCHOOL OWNER AND ADMINISTRATOR

RoyalQuest Schools

What are you doing to make 3rd term better than first term dear school owners? What are you putting in place to make parents know that you care about their feedback / criticism?
It doesn’t speak well of you as a school leader if your parents complain about the same issue everytime, so here are some little actions that can make visible differences

TOILET HYGIENE : make sure your care givers and cleaning staff double up their game… The toilet should be sparkling clean always. Also there should be soap and water for pupils to use every time they visit the toilet. Pupils are quick to put their fingers in their mouth often which makes them fall I’ll often with infection hence all hands should be on deck to ensure proper and thorough toilet hygiene is upheld in the school.

READING IN PRESCHOOL/ NURSERY CLASSES : from age 3, pupils should be prepped for reading. Reading should be a must everyday and given alloted time. From Primary 1 to 6 reading exercises should be given utmost priority. Reading, spelling, comprehension and writing clubs should be created in pupils slotted into each club according to their weakness.Don’t wait until your parents start comparing their children with their neighbors’ children who are better readers before you do the needful.

HANDWRITING SKILLS : It is shameful when pupils in primary classes have poor and illegible handwriting. Nursery classes and lower primary pupils should use 2D exercise books for all their subjects notes. No matter the style of writing adopted in your school, this book helps pupils get used to the correct position of letters.

SPELLING AND DICTATION : for all elementary classes, school owners and supervisors should insist that teachers dictate few of their notes instead of writing all notes on the board. This is time consuming but it really helps pupils in spelling and helps teachers to isolate pupils with spelling issues.

CORRECT USE OF TENSES : School leaders and teachers should always correct pupils as often as possible when they make grammatical blunders or mix up their tenses. These pupils represent the school everywhere they go hence special attention should be given to their spoken English so that they don’t embarrass the school or give the school a bad name. Take heed to make this adjustments in your school and thank me later.
